In Feburary 2016, Nick and Rob reached out to me about joining them at Availo and building out their initial iOS offering. The plan was to create a better way for designers to find freelancers roles at agencies and startups. Joining the team as a co-founder I was responsible for building out their iOS client app, integrating a messaging client and the backend API developed by backend developer Mac.

Users were able to edit their profiles and gain local work offers directly in a messaging environment. The core of Availo's USPs was it's IP messaging. Utilising the SendBird platform I was able to quickly integrate messaging into Availo and then build out more advanced messaging features as the product grew. Users were able to create and update profiles via their camera roll and update their availability status through the inbuilt widget and respond to internal notification reminders via their Apple devices.

Following the development of the initial MVP, Availo was accepted into Seedcamp's early stage fund in the first quarter. After 10 months of runway we eventually closed down Availo due to funding issues - it was a great team, community and experience.
