JOB SUMMARY

Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School, is seeking a Computer Science Teacher to join our educational team. This teacher is responsible for teaching Technology I and II classes guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. This candidate will bring a passion for implementing best instructional practices, and a commitment to further promote an already existing positive collaborative teaching and learning environment. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

* Designs and teaches an innovative Technology I and Technology II curriculum consisting of various topics, including computer hardware, software applications, coding, and digital citizenship;

* Educates students on responsible and ethical use of technology, internet safety, and digital citizenship principles;

* Promotes the learning and growth of all students by providing high-quality instruction and encouraging students to think independently and to express original ideas;

* Stays current with latest trends in technology, educational technology tools, and digital citizenship principles;

* Designs units of instruction with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks;

* Demonstrates instructional practices that reflect cultural proficiency as well as creates a safe and effective classroom environment;

* Adapts instruction, materials, and assessments to make challenging material accessible to all students, including English learners and students with disabilities;

* Designs learning experiences that are informed by data and address prioritized standards;

* Reflects on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, both individually and with colleagues, and uses insights gained to improve practice and student learning;

* Communicates with parents/guardians and school counselors on student progress;

* Administers formative and summative assessments in alignment with grade-level needs; and

* Participates in school-wide and subject specific professional development and grade level team collaborative meetings.

Sizer School is located in Fitchburg, MA, draws from cities and towns in North Central Massachusetts, and is chartered to serve 400 students in grades 7-12. The school is named in honor of Ted Sizer, and we are known for our commitment to the common principles of the Essential School movement.
