Merchants Insurance Group is a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast and is looking for an **Auto Physical Damage Claim Adjuster Trainee (APD)** for our Central Claim Operations team to join our Corporate Headquarters located in Buffalo, New York. The candidate selected for this position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home in a designated work area until such time as it is determined that colleagues will return to the office.

The APD Claim Adjuster Trainee will become part of a dedicated claims team focusing on the skills necessary to perform the timely investigation, evaluation and equitable settlement of all assigned auto physical damage claims. This position interacts extensively with internal colleagues as well as policyholders, agents, attorneys, appraisers, auto repair facilities and a multitude of claim-related service providers.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:**

* Responsible for learning the skills necessary to perform the timely investigation, evaluation and equitable settlement of all assigned auto physical damage claims.

* The APD Trainee will take assignments and coursework to accomplish goals of developing knowledge of policies, coverage law and regulations to advance to the role of an APD Claim Adjuster.

* Learn and develop the skills necessary to provide quality customer service by means of timely first contact, communication of expectations to customers and the timely responsiveness and disposition of claims.

**Qualifications & Skills:**

* Qualified candidates will have a 4 year degree or equivalent work related experience.

* 1 year previous claims experience helpful.

* Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills are required.
